ZOZOTOWN, the biggest Japanese apparel online shopping store, has started a service which customers can choose its shipping cost by themselves. Yusaku Maezawa, who is a CEO of START TODAY inc. running website ZOZOTOWN, tweeted that “Customers can choose 0 or 5 dollars freely, I hope something comes into being between deliverer and receiver automatically” on Twitter.
ZOZOTOWN had set the shipping fee for free if customers buy things more than 50 dollars all at once. But a hike of shipping cost by delivery companies like Yamato Transport or Sagawa Express affects the rate structure of ZOZOTOWN.
Previously ZOZOTOWN had charged 4 dollar if customer buy lesson than 50 dollars. From October 1st 2017, customers can decide its shipping cost range from 0 to 30 dollars. But ZOZOTOWN also announced that this service is just a trial so it might end suddenly.
Before starting this regulation, Yusaku Maezawa had been asking customers for ideas about how to manage this hike of delivery cost on Twitter. There were ideas like preparing annual shipping charge free passport or making only re-delivery paid service.
Some says about this new approach that it’s just responsibility avoidance.
