Odakyu Line Releases New Limited Express Romance Car GSE

The Japanese railway company Odakyu Electric Railway announced that they will launche their new limited express named “Romance Car GSE” in March, 2018.

Romance car is a limited express train run by Odakyu Electric Railway. All seats must be reserved, and it links Shinjuku with famous sightseeing places like Odawara, Hakone and Enoshima. Odawara is famous for Odawara Castle or a producing center of boiled fish paste, Hakone is a popular traditional hot spring town. It also has a beautiful lake called Ashinoko and some popular museums like Hakone Venetian Glass Museum or Hakone Open Air Museum. There’s an island in Enoshima and there’re are good seafood restaurants or vendors around Enoshima, they gains popularity.

The name Romance Car originates from a seat for two, especially for couples, named Romance Seat placed at cafes in Japan. Romance Car literally consists of 2 seaters. In 1940’s, not only Odakyu Electrice Railway but other railway companies used the name Romance Car, but other companies stopped using the name, finally only Odakyu is using the name as of now.

The new Romance Car will be colored in rose vermilion. The color reminds people of the first Romance Car. GSE stands for Graceful Super Express. Nippon Sharyo, LTD. will manufacture the cars, and a Japanese prominent designer Noriaki Okabe will design the train. It has an observation car and 16 seats are allocated in the car. The height of the windows is around 1 meter, it makes people see good scenery. It has free Wi-if service, and each seat has outlets.
