Japanese famous singer Namie Amuro has announced on her 40th birthday that she will retire from showbiz on September 16, 2018. Her retirement has been revealed on her website and it shocked many Japanese people because she is still 40 years old.
She debuted in showbiz when she is 15 years old as a member of dance group “SUPER MONKEY’S“. After going through activities in the group, she has finally started to work as a solo singer from 1995. Some songs written by prominent producer Tetsuya Komuro made her more popular and have bunch of her enthusiastic fans. Those fans imitates her hair style or clothes and are called “Amurar” and it becomes a social phenomenon.
Her representative song “CAN YOU CELEBRATE?” released in 1997 is still used in wedding party widely in Japan. Her song “NEVER END” was used in Okinawa summit held in 2000 as a public theme song and she joined this year’s “Kouhaku Uta Gassen” which is an annual contest between male and female popular singers on New Year’s Eve. And also her song “Hero” was used as a theme song for Rio de Janeiro Olympic games in Japan. She is one of Japanese national singers. And also her audio CD “Uncontrolled” released in 2012 got ranked No.1 in Japan, Taiwan, Hon Kong, Korea and Singapore.
Her sudden announcement of her retirement made people surprised. The reason has not been appeared but it is said that one of reasons is her son who was given birth when she was 20 years old. He will become 20 years old in 2018.
