Mitsui Sumitomo Trust Club which publishes Diners Club Card to Japanese customers started “Gohiiki Yoyaku“. Gohiiki means patron, Yoyaku means reservation in Japanese language. It makes Diners Club Card customers reserve restaurants which are hard to reserve, on the day like a patron.
When the restaurants get a sudden cancellation, Mitsui Sumitomo Trust Club will buy the reservation instead, and then inform customers of the availability of the restaurant hard to get into through a messenger application LINE.
It is said that the ratio of sudden or no show cancellations will be 1 to 3 percent of total number of reservations and it’s equivalent to 1 or 2 billion dollars lost. The number of sudden or no show cancellations are increasing and getting serious problem in Japan. Patron reservation service Gohiiki Yoyaku can protect restaurants from such cancellations and make customers book hard-to-reserve restaurants.
