A current WBA world champion of the flyweight class, Kazuto Ioka, might retire from boxing because of his demotivation, Kazunori Ioka who’s his father and also his trainer revealed the possibility.
Kazuto Ioka has started boxing at the age of 15, won many tournament games when he was a high school student. Though he was aiming to participate Beijing Olympic games when he is in his college days, he was defeated by Kenji Okubo and failed it. After that, he turned professional.
He got a champion belt of minimum weight class from Oleydong Sithsamerchai in his 7th match in 2011, and it set record as a champion who got a champion belt the fastest. Then, he changed his class to light flyweight and also became a champion in the class. After 3 defensive games of the light flyweight class champion, he moved up his class to flyweight, and in 2015, he won the WBA championship of flyweight class. As of April 2017, he has defensed his flyweight class champion belt 5 times.
Kazuto Ioka had been required by WBA to fight with Artem Dalakian ranked #1 in the list of WBA flyweight class. But he rejected it and returned his champion belt to WBA on November 9, 2017. According to his trainer Kazunori Ioka, he couldn’t train constantly because of demotivation, he decided it. He got married with a Japanese singer Nana Tanimura in May 2017, and it’s considered the reason of his demotivation.
