Bubbly dance Youtube Video by Japanese high school students goes viral. The bubbly dance was danced by Osaka Tomioka high school at a national convention “Dance Stadium” held on August 17, 2017, and they won the second prize.
Osaka Tomioka high school won the first prize in two consecutive years until last year. They set their sights on the first prize also this year. After efforts in vain, they were defeated by Osaka Doshisha Kori high school at a national convention “Dance Stadium”. But their dance video was uploaded on Youtube after the convention and it was played 6,400,000 times by people from all over the world as of September 27 2017.
Bubbly stands for something in a period of high economic growth happened from 1960’s to around 2000 in Japan. The high economic growth period is called bubble economy period because it has disappeared like bubble. So bubbly dance is the one danced in the period.
Students in Osaka Tomioka high school wore old style clothes of bubble economy period. The students borrowed those clothes from their parents. And also old popular songs in the period like “Dancing Hero” by Yoko Oginome, “CHA-CHA-CHA” by Akemi Ishii are used in the bubbly dance. Not only curious concepts but the quality of dance made this dance popular.
Akane, who is a graduate of Osaka Tomioka high school and a choreographer of this bubbly dance, filmed the dance video at Osaka Piccadilly theater and uploaded it on Youtube. It becomes popular video in no time and many Japanese media reported about this dance.
